My Beach

This is my favourite place. The beach. It's called Waitara Beach. When I first came here I was soooo scared! It was big and noisy and sandy and all the water there gushing up the ground at me...!
But I got used to it real fast. Now I love it. I wanted to bring the Kittie Sisters here too but mummy said No cause they wouldn't like it. I think they would.

It gets windy here, and it gets sunny. It is always changing, this beach. It has lots of driftwood and rocks.
I love to sniffle thru the driftwood cause I'm always finding cool sniffs! I'm not allowed to roll in the sniffs tho cause mummy thinks it's not nice to smell. I think dead birds are nice to smell.

Soggy Doggy!!
Always a better view from a log.

Our walking trail in the afternoon sun.

There is a trail that leads along beside the beach, it goes over grass, and thru some bamboo, and along a bit of boardwalk.

We don't meet many other dogs here. Maybe they don't get to come to the beach?
We need to mow this bit.

The Long Journey

We did live in a town called Christchurch, it was a nice town. It had my dog park, and my walks. It had the planes we watched, and my garden that I helped mummy in. There was cold icy snows underfoot sometimes in the winter, and hot roasty days in the Summer.

Then we moved, mummy and I.

Away from all that I knew, and off to a different town we went.
We drove and drove and drove. We saw all different things and it was an adventure!
We even had to cross the sea. There was a big Ferry for that. The car was not good for crossing the sea.

This was our Ferry we went on

We saw some stinky seals at Kaikoura on our way to the Ferry. Pooo!

This was a bridge we saw.

Me, checkin out the rocks at Wellington
Why didn't we take a train!

We got to our new place, and I met my cousin Roxanne. She is tall, and doesn't really like wee dogs. I think she was jealous cause I had jackets and squeaky toys and she didn't. I let her borrow my toys but she just ate them.
Me and Roxanne

This is Kitt E Katt. He is the oldest cat I know. But he is also cool, and didn't mash me too much.

The Kitty Sisters were fine, they didn't come with us in the car, they came on a plane!! They didn't like Roxanne tho, and was afraid to come out of the bed sometimes...they was a bit sooky. But Roxanne only liked to watch them. All the time.

My L.O.T.

I'm told that I do spend a lot of time staring...I like to think of it as my L.O.T. or "Life Observation Time" It sounds way more functional than staring, cause staring is rude. And I'm not.
I am an observer. A watcher of stuff. I like to know exactly what is happening, why it is happening, who it is happening to, and more importantly, what's in it for me.

I observe up close and personal...

I observe from afar...

I observe from below....
From a handy window....

...whatever you are doing...

...I will be watching...
I even watch through my eyelids...it's a Ninja trick Pippin showed me

I always keep my eye on the ball...no matter what

More Gardening

Well, it's growing time again. Time to put wee plants in the ground and watch them grow. We actually did the whole sticking-plants-in-holes thing a few days ago, but with one thing and another I am only just getting around to recording it.
The day was sunny, and very hot. Too hot in my opinion for this garden caper. First the whole weed-filled patch was de-weeded then dug over, compost was forked in, then the planting started. I, of course helped the best I could, checking which tree had the best shade, where the coolest breeze was, and what was happening at the front gate...the furthest part of the yard from the garden. Now and then I would re-locate a weed or three to other parts of the yard, but most of the time I was shade-side.
We planted some lettuce, tomatoes, broccoli, basil, capsicums, and celery. It's all rabbit food as far as I am concerned, good to feed the creature I dine on, but it makes mummy strangely happy to have the little plantlings rooted contentedly in the patch.

Trying to convince Pippin to share the barrow was like asking
the world to stop turning

Once the planting was finished, out came the sprinkler! That was fun. It's like a wee little rain storm. I ran around the edges of the wet bit so's my toe feathers didn't get too soggy.
And then we were done! The big piles of weeds went into the compost heap for next time, the garden tools were de-dirted and stored back in the garage, and we all sat down for a cold drink, and a well deserved rest.

Wednesday

Another Journey

Today we went on another excursion. This time, in the van. Mummy packed up my wee bag, with my usual water, bowl, towel, treats, flannel, and lead, and harnessed me up. We drove out northish, and had a look around. One of the things we saw was a bridge. WOW what a scary big high bridge it was! It was the Waimakariri Gorge bridge. Pretty, but rickety. Won't be seeing my wee paws trotting over that one in a hurry!

Further on , on our journey, we came across this very interesting piece of road. It was a straight piece of road. Once. Before the earthquake. It is near a place called Darfield. I don't know if I ever want to live in Darfield. I could probably live the rest of my life without living here!

Monday

Down on the Tarmac

Another place we like to go is the fence by the long concrete driveway that has flying cars. They call it an airport, with planes. These things come out of the sky, and land in front of us, or they take off madly up the strip and fly away. Often when we go here, we stop at the magic food window on the way and pick up vast quantities of burgers, with lashings of fries and scoff these between take-offs and landings.

I watch them hoping one day they might come closer to the fence so I can have a closer investigation. but I can only watch from out of the window, as there is danger lurking everywhere..apparently.

Sunday

Halloween!

We had Halloween! Now I know what its all about...you get dressed up in stuff, pose for some pictures, and get LOADS of treats. Nice! I wasn't sure what I wanted to be, so I tried on Pixie Bells fairy god-mother wings, but they didn't really "take off" excuse the pun.

So mummy suggested I dress up as a Treat. Perfect! So we found a nice sizeable bag of chippies, emptied the chippies into a bowl (and the dog) and I donned that as my Halloween costume. Didn't make too bad a job either I must say! I did make a neat sound whilst bustling about the house, "Crickle crickle crickle..." you could hear me a mile away.

The Ninja, on the other hand, refused to dress up, so was photographed with her vast array of weapons.

"I shall grant you 1 wish..."

Yes please Pixie Bell! I have a wish! I wish my legs were just a teensy bit longer...just a smidge...just enough to keep my tummy fur off the damp ground on a chilly morning...

Monday

Goin' for Fish n Chips

We went for a drive today. My wee bag was packed for me, with my flannel, water, baby-wipes (in case of woopsies) and towel. My harness was strapped on, and away we went. Well, mummy and daddy was hungry and decided to get fish and chips from Jasons. Jason is Daddys friend. He does yummy fish an chips. We went in the van which was cool for a change, cause I get to sit in the front with mummy!! Or should that be ON mummy....I just can't sit still in the front.

We drove up to the top of the Port Hills, to Sugar Loaf. There was no sugar there, only sheep, tussock, and a sharp wind. After tea, I had a quick walk around, smelled the most incredible smells, and hurried back into the car. I wanted to play with the little sheep there, but was told firmly that was out of the question.

Down the Line

Today we went for a journey. It was far, but I don't get sick in the car now so it wasn't too bad. The purpose of our journey was to see what the countryside was like down South. We wanted to see if it was a nice place to live one day. It is also where I was born.
Our first stop was a picnic area where I was allowed to stretch my legs and have a bathroom stop. As always, these places are just TEAMING with smells!
On the Road
All anchored down an Ready to Roll!!

Doing my bit for the environment...
Geraldine - up the main street.
My Home Town - Geraldine!!

I really don't remember living here, I mean I was only three months old when I left, so I was unable to tell Mummy and Daddy where I lived. They will find out though, and I will get to meet with my first family one day. I wonder if I will remember them? Or they me? Will have to wait for that one.

We also went to the beach, my FIRST trip to the beach - and it was soooooo coooool!!! WOW!! I think I love the beach, it has smells there like I never smelled before, and seagulls, and waves and pebbles and seaweed and all sorts of goodies. And there were several other dogs on the beach too, having their strolls. I would like to stroll here everyday. Such a long drive just to go for a stroll though.

Seaweed
Just checkin ma e-mails...

I found a post to stand on too. When you have wee little legs like mine it's good to have something to stand on in which to survey the land. It's also a good thing to stand on whilst posing for your pictures...

Whilst at the beach, I couldn't help licking the pebbles. They tasted so salty! And the water! It rushed in and out and in and out and nearly touched me. I would skip away and keep fetching my piece of wood.
When we got home, I was so tired, I could hardly keep my eyes open. I could still smell the seaside, hear the waves, and feel that breeze blowing my fur.
I love the beach. I am going back to the beach. I wonder what the Kitties would think of the beach? I wonder if they would love it as well? I shall see if they want to come next time.
