Well I didn't really know what was going on. It was dark, all good wee dogs are fast asleep (the lucky ones like me are on a bed) and it hit. I mean it HIT. Maybe I knew what was going to happen, not sure if the feelings I'd had were something to worry about, or whether I was just still full from tea. Or hungry. Or I needed potty...not sure.
But anyway, the people were diving for clothes, diving for cover under the doorway, and the dogs, well, dog - was left wondering, and in bed.

When you hear a rumble....doorways are good...but take the dog next time... |
After what seemed like a long time, lots of dark, and very nervous people, I was huggled, and we braced ourselves for the next one.
The world for
wee dogs requires quite a bit of guess work at the best of times. This was no exception. But now, I am a seasoned earthquake expert. 7.1 magnitude they say, the experts in the field. Gosh. But it didn't all stop there.

...under tables is safe |
A week on, the rumblings are yet to subside back into the belly of the beast in which they were thrust, and we are so earthquake-ready, it deserves a prize. We now have a survival kit that will keep us all going, not for the measly three days the Civil Defense Man said, but for at least a week. It even has food for furbabies in it!

Never underestimate the amount of food and water you may need. This is my ration. |

The Great Outdoors is all good and well, but something to cook on is sheer genius. |

Not getting caught in the dark again!!! That was just plain scary. |
Not wanting them to escape wildly into the hills, we left the kitties in their room until the worst shaking was over. Needn't have worried, we found them tucked safely behind the sofa in their room, not wanting to go anywhere. With eyes like saucers, they emerged, slowly, and with great caution. If anyone had told them a dog had anything to do with the situation, I would have been drawn and quartered without delay.
Mummy and daddy sleep in their clothes now. Funny that.

When all else fails...hide. |
